Home Rodríguez is located in the neighborhood closed, The Hope, halfway between Pilar and General Rodríguez. This urbanization, country of big lots are surrounded by polo clubs. The layout of its streets, of coarse, compact and stone game, is set in function of their añosas plantations. The house occupies a lot at corner of about 29 for 80 meters, the width of which decreases towards the bottom. Of flat topography, the streets surrounding it surround by rows of weeping willows.
Was commissioned by a young couple without children who wanted to build their house as a permanent residence. They pretended that their outer image is simple and its distribution inside simple. In a single plant should articulate a suite and a second bedroom with a bathroom shared with the social area, this latest completely unified. They asked, in turn, the project for a future expansion that providing for the incorporation of a third bedroom.
They wanted a large gallery that would enable them to be in close contact with nature and also a swimming pool. Then look at other houses made by the Study, expressed their liking for water mirrors and the inner courtyards and raised the possibility of incorporating them.
The house was designed as a pure volume. Respecting the withdrawals and contemplating the expansion project of its tread takes the entire width of the lot. A concrete platform allows you to skip the mirror of water that anticipates the facade to achieve a reception hall half-covered. After opening the access door the first thing that happens to the view is a green courtyard behind glass. This patio creates a open sense of space, allowing visuals to the bottom of the batch.
The line that joins the access, this patio and the pool sets up a double bay in relation to the interior organization within the box. The main spaces are oriented to the north looking –gallery by - towards the outer space open, while the service is happen aligned to become a part of the facade. In the other direction, the inner courtyard independent private spaces with respect to the social area.
About the close of the volume built: front, side and rear facade were addressed in a particular way, thus forming three systems differentiated.
The closure system of the main facade is dominated by a series of wooden planks of lapacho pendants arranged vertically along the entire front. Behind this quiebravistas a system of low walls and hanging combined with walls of glass translucent make up the inner skin of the local service. The system tables that it covers it harmonizes these open and closed, forming a facade with rhythmic and orderly that allows you to look at from the inside without being seen from the street.
These planks will not come to touch the ground. A low wall clad in flagstone black peeking out from below. Being that dark colors create has the effect of seeming greater depth pretended, by using this resource, bring visually towards the front of the system tables, taking away the presence of the wall below and thereby creating the feeling of “floating” of the lattice of wood. It was intended that the facade aparentase sensually be suspended, inn on the water.
Unlike the system-front closure, the closure system rear is entirely glazed, and transparent. The opening of their frames –that take the full height floor-to-ceiling - allows the complete integration interior-exterior. The large gallery semi-sheltered works as a transition space to the backyard and protects the domestic spaces of the direct solar incidence.
The side closures consist of covers virtually blind support on the floor. Unlike the other two systems, on the sides there is evidence of the support of the mass.
The closure facing the side street use –on a smaller scale - of one of the resources used in the front closure. With the purpose of allowing the entry of light and provide the social area overlooking the street, a series of vertical slats of wood to have hanging in front of the glass skin. In this way, considering the opening to the inner courtyard, the living-dining room is illuminated and open on three of its sides. The other side closure is more occlusal. A wall of concrete and glass panes dimensions controlled surround the extreme depths of the house.
The lighting highlights the proportion of horizontal volume built. In the interior, two sets of rails suspended from the slabs run through the front and the rear facade of the tip-to-tip. Likewise, a row of luminaires was embedded in all the length of the ceiling and the floor of the gallery.
By the request of the client the interior walls of the private area should be white, so these were built of brick masonry revoked.
The house is structured by a system of walls of concrete beams and inverted, to take the height of the loads, hide the system to the outside view.
The cover is weapon by a traditional system of flat roof: pre-alivianado with slope on the slabs, folder and membrane geotextile.
In the interior, the slabs naked office ceilings. The surfaces of concrete reveal their formwork craft. The partitions were used horizontal boards of pine, while the ceilings are left together left by the plates of phenolic.
While the austere concrete sought to ensure the sustainability of the building at the time, the nature of the set of the materials of the house he aspired to become part of the rustic scenery that surrounds it. The simplicity of the functional organization, as reflected in the plant, is synthesized in the morphology of its container: a grand canyon of straight edges of predominantly horizontal.
